Your hosts Celia and Trevor, have lived in Somerset West for over thirty years accumumulating a vast knowledge of the Somerset West, Helderberg Basin and the Western Cape areas and therefore are both more than suitable to assist you, their guest(s) with suggestions on what to do and where to go. For many years Trevor acted as the ' unofficial guide for overseas visiting members of staff of the International Corporation for which he worked, showing off to them, the magnificence of the Western Cape and introducing them to the Cape's hospitality. The Helderberg Mountain and the Helderberg Nature Reserve are literally only a stone throw away from Lavender cottage and one of Trevor's favorite pastimes is walking the meandering footpaths on the gentle slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, absorbing the exceptional views and scenery, this he will willingly share with you, as your guide and walking companion. When Celia is not serving guests their breakfasts you will find her absorbed in her hobby of fabric painting, of which you will see many of her designs, whist you spend time in the relaxing ambience of Lavender Cottage. Celia is a ' Founder Member ' of the Somerset West Country Craft Market which is one of the finest in the Country and she still teaches fabric painting and retains her many contacts in local arts and crafts circles. Should you wish to take back home an art memento of your holiday in South Africa her work is on sale at very reasonable prices.
